October Food Drive to Benefit Holy Comforter Church Food Pantry
This year, for our annual Fall Food Drive to benefit the Holy Comforter Church Food Pantry, Lower School and Middle School classrooms will begin collecting non-perishable food items on Tuesday, October 9th. Donations will be gathered and delivered on Thursday, October 17th by our Middle School NHJS members.
The Holy Comforter Food Pantry is the second largest Food Bank in Tallahassee serving as a Second Harvest distribution site open the 1st through 4th Saturdays from 9 am to 11 am. Food insecurity is a lack of consistent access to enough safe and nutritious food for an active, healthy, and productive life. It can be cyclical, or episodic - associated with a crisis like the current devastation from Hurricane Helene. Food Insecurity is at 9.9% in the state of Florida. This means that almost 10% of households do not have enough food regularly.
As you prepare to give, remember, we’re always in need of the “super six” items: canned fruits, vegetables, canned meats (tuna, chicken), cereal, hearty soup/stew, and peanut butter. We would ask that you not give industrial-sized or bulk-sized items
II Corinthians 9:11-12 "You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God."
