Two Holy Comforter students had the unique opportunity to shadow Head of School Peter Klekamp, today. Riggs and Will Newell spent the entire day with Mr. Klekamp learning about several facets of his job. During their day the students were able to see first hand the scope of the job, all while having fun. Will and Riggs faced pertinent issues (i.e. should we let school out at 12:00 today?), solved problems, brainstormed with employees regarding upcoming projects (i.e. what news articles should be featured in an upcoming publication?), led Ash Wednesday Chapel services, attended a Building Committee meeting with the City of Tallahassee, toured the STEM building job site, surveyed campus on the gator and much more. Will and Riggs also represented Holy Comforter in the greater Tallahassee community when they attended a Rotary meeting with Mr. Klekamp.

While at Rotary, FSU baseball coach, Mike Martin, the presenting speaker, talked with Will and Riggs even signed autographs. At the conclusion of the day, the boys enjoyed an ice cream party with a few of their closest friends.

When asked, "what was their favorite part of the day?", the unanimous answer was the ice cream party. Will also added that he "really liked getting the badge." (Will and Riggs both received official HCES name badges labeling them "Head of School"). As they both ate ice cream with their friends, they made a few last minute decisions and changes before the day came to a close. Will and Riggs gave Lower School Head, Brenda Hagen "a week off" since she had done such a good job today; they announced that there will be ice cream parties every other day, and last but not least, flat screen tv's will now adorn the classrooms. Great job boys!

Mr. Klekamp thoroughly enjoyed the day spent with these two students. What was Mr. Klekamp's favorite part of the day? Walking Riggs and Will through the construction site and watching their faces as they truly discovered the "rhyme and reason" to what we do each and everyday.

The Newell family won the chance to be "Head of School for the Day" by placing the highest bid on the item during the Live Auction at this year's Gala.
